Please take a moment....

Today is Memorial Day. Memorial Day is not about picnics or barbecues.  Memorial Day is a day to remember all of those who have died defending our country. So many lives are lost in wars and most of the time we are blatantly unaware. They have all fought for our freedom. They have fought for our Constitution. They fought to keep us safe. I was raised in an Air Force family. Although my father saw combat, it was before I was born. He was an honorable man. He believed in the US and it's government. He was fiercely patriotic.  I was blessed because my Dad always came home.  I remember our neighborhood growing up. There were many Military families living near us. The Air Force Base we lived on had just recently closed. I remember my Mom and her friends talking about men coming home for R&R. I will never forget the look on those brave women's faces. It was the look of relief. On this Memorial Day I have some requests. Take your hat off and put your hand on your heart when

I have a secret.......I'm an addict.

Yep it's true. I'm addicted to glitter. I start out with nail polish. Plain Jane nail polish. It might be the prettiest color know to mankind but....every time I have to add glitter. In some form, without fail.  What the Hell. I've always been a closet Rebel. I started out with a base coat. per the norm. I'm still using the Pro Fx Nail Concealer. I was going to polish my nail this beautiful periwinkle-ish color. I found this at Rite-Aid. It's L.A. Girl Color Pop Muse. Opaque in two coats. Sadly, they didn't have many colors when I was there. I was thinking maybe they won't be selling this brand any longer. Hopefully not. L.A. Girl polish comes in a 14ml size and is $2.99 per bottle. If you purchase two, it's $5.00 for both. Not a bad deal. This polish dries quickly and last as long as Essie or OPI. My supplies:  For the glitter polish I chose Essie On A Silver Platter.  If you look at this polish in the bottle, you will see Purple, Silver, Gold,

It's a beautiful day in the Neighborhood......

No Mr. Rodgers does not live here. I did love watching his show when I was young. Dark Shadows, Star Trek, Bewitched and Batman were always what we watched everyday with out fail. Those were classics. Anyhoo, here's the nail of the day.  I saw this on pinterest and thought it was pretty. Here's the original link. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/394979829800711139/ The look.  Please pardon the awkward fingers. Because of my arthritis, I don't have the beautiful hands I was once blessed with. This design is simple yet stunning all at the same time. It was quick and easy to do.  Base coat - ProFx Nail Concealer. This  make the white polish easier to the opaque stage without a billion coats.  The turquoise is Bonita Salon Gel-On! Blue Water Lily. This is two coats. I bought it at the local Rite-Aid. If I recall, it's $2.99.  I used this on my thumb, index and pinkie nails.  The white is L.A. Girl Color Pop  White on. Two coats of this looks awesome over the ProFx.  D

A woman is helpless only when her nail polish is drying......

My daughter gave me a sign that says just that as a gift. She is so right. I can cook anything I choose, change the oil in a car, change a tire and a hundred other things I learned along the way. Mess with me when my polish is drying, you are going to be in trouble. \ Seriously. Painting nail is an art, even if you are putting on one color. It's tricky,it takes practice and its frustrating as Hell if you have to start over. Be patient. Let a woman get her nails dry and everything is awesome.  Fortunately my kids aren't little anymore and then fend for themselves most of the time. Other times it's like this "Mom, Mooooom, I've cut my carotid artery! I'm bleeding!!"  Yes dear, I'll be right there. Let my nail polish dry. Seriously, it's never that severe. Funny though. On with the polish at hand.... I really like the Pro-Fx Nail Concealer. It makes a nice smooth base to work with. I use one coat. It dries fast which is a bonus. Who really

Happy Mother's Day.

Greetings:  I hope all of the Mother's have a blessed day. Children are amazing. I have seven of my own and many of my children's friends that I claim as my own. I bought some new polish on Thursday. I bought a dark pink, a nice blue, a sand color and a sparkly fairy dust color. The blue reminded me of my Mom's blue eyes.  I lost her in 2003. It doesn't get any easier. It's just life. I miss her terribly. She was very special. Let's get the show on the road. First, a base coat. Your choice. I used the Pro-Fx Nail Concealer in Light Medium. I used one coat to create a smooth surface. I chose Pure Ice Shine Rain & Shine. Thins is a nice cornflower blue. Two coats.  For the glitter I used Glitter Lambs Million Dollar Gradient. I love this color. It's gold, gold and more gold. It's  a "bam"in your face gold. With glitter polish, the first Coat you need to "place" more then "paint" it on. Th

Better late then never....

Hello: I hope it is nice where you are as it is where I am. It's beautiful. I took a road trip with 4 of  my  kids this Saturday. We went to a wedding reception in honor of my daughter and my new son-in-law. It was a small get together but nice just the same.  There was cupcakes with frosting that tasted like ice cream, chocolate covered strawberries, spinach dip and bread, lovely pink cookies and pulled pork sliders. Thank you Shannon for all your hard work. The funnest part of the day was when we were in the car listening to Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. Singing at the top of our voices and banging all of our heads at just the right moment. It was awesome. I spaced Sundays post and thought I would do my nails today. After ten, yes ten attempts, I decided to try this polish. This is Crows Toes Shiny Happy People. It's a beautiful bright spring green with gold glitter. This is three coats. I should have done this for St. Patrick's Day. I started with a bas
