Helloo Baaaaby.....

Those are the words of the immortal Big Bopper aka J. P. Richardson who died in a plane crash along with Buddy Holly and Richie Valens, February 3rd, 1959. Truly a great tragedy for the world. Haven't a clue what I'm talking about, look it up. My last post I was struggling to get my nails back in shape. Sadly, they would grow a bit longer than my fingertip and then peel. I couldn't have a Nail Art Blog without nails!! Well now I do. Let's check it out.  Here we are... I decided on this color because it's Spring in my neck of the woods. These are really simple, I think anyone could do them. These are PolyGel. Not a gel, not an acrylic. You do have to cure then in an LED/UV light but you could do them with regular polish and some nail art supplies. The pinky and thumb nail have gold nail foil on them. The ring finger has some glitter and a gold tone shield. The middle finger has some pearls and rhinestones attached. The index finger is my favorite. I starte...

Something for the rest of you.....

My last post was almost one month ago. I decided to use the OPI products foe one month to see how my nails faired. Well they faired well. Due to the use of gel polish(I believe), my nails peeled until last week. When you remove gel polish the wrong way, it peels the natural layers away. One would think, I would know not to do this. Guilty. I did it anyway. When I quit doing that, my natural nails grew out and they no longer peel. Yea!!  Are they short, yes. Are they healthy, YES!!! Patience is a virtue and not one of my better qualities. Now I need to work on my cuticles.😒 About six months ago, a small cat decided we were really cool and took up residence on our porch. She is the sweetest cat ever. March 19th, we walked out to the porch to discover the cat with a tiny orange tabby cat in her mouth. She had four teeny tiny baby kittens. I'm sure that is some sort of run-on sentence but WTF! Here they are in all their glory. About 24 hours old.   The grey one is...

Been a minute.....

Well, here I am again. I've been busy at work. Busy at home. When my Aunt passed away in November, It was hard. We emptied all her things out of the house she  lived in for 60 years. I think 90% of it is in my living room. I thing I have her graduation dress of hers from High School. That would have been 1942. She was very special to me. She was like a second mom. It's amazing all the antiques she had in her home.  She still had my curls from the time I got my hair cut. I miss her so much and I see her everyday in things I do. Anyhoo..... Just a quick post to let my hoard(LOL) of followers know I'm still around.  Today I'm actually doing my nails. I'll post my masterpieces after. Thanks for stopping by. Lee Hugs to my B.

Wishing you the very best Holiday season

Yes, I know it's been two months since my last post. My health issues have carried over for two months and I have been exhausted. I was finally feeling better and I lost someone very dear to me. When I was born. I was blessed with amazing parents, my Nana and my Aunt Wanda.  Wanda has always treated me like her own. I spent every minute of my childhood that I could at Wanda and Nana's house. It was home to me. My grandmother taught me how to iron, cook and sew among other things. I lost her when I was 11. Both parents passed away in 2003. Wanda was always there for me. She was like a second mom to me. She helped me with anything she could.  She babysat my six kids when I was a single parent going to school. She treated my kids like they were her own. She was an amazing woman. She worked at Grand Coulee Dam when it was being built, she traveled and she truly loved life. She was a Christian and she devoted her life to Jesus Christ. Back in July when I had surgery on my foo...

Candy Man, Candy Man........

Nope. Not going to risk it. Just in case.:) Well here we are. A beautiful September day. Some would say chilly but I think it's a perfect. You can even see the mountains. We had had some wildfires recently and it's been really smokey.  There have been days you can't see across the street. I think thoses days are past. I pray God watched over anyne that lived in those areas. It would be scary as Hell knowing that at any given moment, you could lose everything. On to something cherry. While I was rehabbing after three surgeries, I decided to try my hand at acrylics again. I wore them for years but seemed to develop an allergy to them. SOmeone suggested that it might be the primer that I was allergic to, not the acrylics. So I tried a protein primer and I haven't had any issues thus far. For this look I tried my hand at "extended nail bed." I thought the thumb looked great but I need to keep practicing. In case anyone in wondering: Disclaimer:  I am no...

Where's Foxy.........

He's out in the middle of nowhere. If you have teenagers, they may have watched a show called "Charlie & Lola." My daughter loved that show. She was five at the time. Foxy was Lola's toy fox.m One day she lost him "out on the middle of nowhere." If you asked her where Foxy was, she would say, in her tiny five year old voice,l with her best British accent "He's out in the middle of nowhere." That's how I've felt these past two and a half months.  Like I was stuck out in the middle of nowhere. I had Achilles tendon repair on July 6th. I'm apparently clumsy as Hell because I fell trying to go to the bathroom and put my foot down. No big deal. There was no pain involved so I didn't think anything about it. On July 11th, Mr. Unhappy Gallbladder came out. Cool. No pain. I saw my Podiatrist who was unhappy that I fell but understanding. wasn't sure about the whole situation. Followed up with him a week later and we decided ...

I am a total Nerd......

When it comes to Wonder Woman! "Why?" you ask. Because Wonder Woman is the original female Super Hero. As far as the others are concerned, they are just knockoffs. She has been kicking ass since ass since 1941. Last year at Walgreens, they had some Wonder Woman items. My daughter was sweet enough to buy me the makeup brushes. They are nice little brushes. Today, I walked into Walgreens and hit the jackpot!! I found a different set of brushes for $12. I came across some makeup bags as well. These came in a set. The large clear vinyl measures 9 1/2 in wide by 7 1/2 in tall x 7 in deep.  It's trimmed with red and black and has a large gold star on the zipper pull. The second bag is a soft fabric with a zipper. It measures 7 1/2 in wide x 5 1/2 in tall x 5 in deep. The set of two bags was $10. The next bag is a soft fabric "weekender." It has a lot of room inside.  It's 9 in wide x 7 in tall x 7 in deep. There aren't any pockets  but I...

No....I haven't died and gone to Hell in a hand basket

But the possibility is still possible. Not really. I try to always do the right thing. Be the better person. You know what I'm talking about. So I did my nails. Add then I had a revelation.  Do something different, I said. And here I am;. I'm going to cal it the "I wanted to love it...." blog post. I am sure that everyone has bought something and after you got home, realized that it wasn't what you expected. Unless you live in a booming metropolis...I don not, you would have to drive at least 50 miles to return something. Fortunately, I can always find someone to share with. And since I buy everything with my own funds, I promise to give you a brutally honest opinion. Lets talk about.........Lip Sense. Have you ever heard of Lip Sense? Long lasting lip stick that smells something akin to grain alcohol? Well I tried it. My daughter in law seemed to like it so I thought I'd give it a whirl. The color itself will run you $25.  If you want a gloss...

Holy catfishes Batman.......

It's been a month since I've blogged. :( I'd love to say my life is so busy and exciting I forgot but I can not tell a lie. Health issues keep me tired all of the time. I'm feeling pretty good today so here I am. I think it's going to be a busy Summer at our house. I have three grand-babies on the way. One boy so far. I am waiting patiently on the other two.  I have five grandsons right now. I'm not going to lie, I was wishing for three girls but I will take whatever God has planned. I have a wedding in two weeks for my baby boy. He's not really a baby, he's 23 and 6'3" I believe. He is still my baby and I am happy for both of them. So I'm guessing the many of you have see water marble nail art.  I think it is beautiful. Every design is different.  The only draw back for me is the mess. I know there are many brands of "Nail Tape" out there but they are all latex based. I, sadly am allergic to latex. So it gets messy.  One day...

Here I am yet again

It['s been raining all day so I binged watched "The People vs. OJ Simpson." Talk about stupid people.  He was guilty beyond a reasonable doubt with DNA evidence and his Lawyers played the race. People were so mad because wsome rotten LAPD Cop used the "N" word they forgot Simpson was guilty. Derps. Rant over. Here's the idea to end all ideas. Nope, just kidding. I had this look all done and I wasn['t happy with it. Even though it looked almost exactly like the picture, I had to do something else. It looks like this: Black is absolutely the worst color for me to work with. Ugh!!!I can never seem to get it to look right. No matter how careful I am, it always looks messy to me. I saw this look on pinterest and thought it was awesome. Here's the link:https://www.pinterest.com/pin/394979829804834347/ Her's are so much nicer. Obviously Black polish is her Besties' So I used L.A. Girl Color Pop Darkness, L.A. Girl Color Pop Glitzy, P...

Something new and different........

Hello polish fans: If you haven't seen my posts where I have mentioned that every month I receive makeup brushes from LiveGlam. The box is called "MorpheMe." These are really awesome brushes from the Morphe' Brush Company. All of the brushes I have from this subscription are soft and well made. These boxes will run you about $20 dollars. Here is a picture of a few of the brushes that I have so far: In case you might be interested, here's the link to LiveGlam. https://liveglam.com/morphe-brushes/?ref=mamacinco61@yahoo.com Now LiveGlam has started offering a polish and lipstick subscription as well. PolishMe, which came in my P.O. Box yesterday; and KissMe lipstick. Sadly, the lipstick box is"wait list" status. So wait I shall. Back to the PolishMe box. It comes in a cute little box, which I have already found a use for. As a child of parents who lived through The Great Depression, I save everything. It looks like this. In this ...

Would you look at that......

I'm actually posting on Sunday. Whoot, whoot! So here we are once again. Sundays are my quiet days. It's the day I don't do anything. becvause I did everything on Saturday. I've been a little lacking in the creativity department lately. I do believe I am depressed.  Life is giving me fits I don't expect a perfect life by any means. Grrrrr. This weeiks design I came up with by looking at ideas on Pinterest. The design that inspired me is this one by Chantal Toile. Here's the link.https://www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=stamped%20nail%20art&rs=typed&term_meta[]=stamped%7Ctyped&term_meta[]=nail%7Ctyped&term_meta[]=art%7Ctyped I decided to use tone on tone colors and this suited me too a T. Base coat...your choice. :)  I followed this with two coats of Pure Ice Shore Bet. This is a pale sandy color. I chose to do just two coats because I was stamping over the polish. Otherwise I would have used three for good opacity. For the stamping...

Greetings fellow nail polish fans...

My daughter has been out of school for nine days due to the weather. At this moment, it  is snowing like a son of a gun. She's so bored. I recently received the latest copy of Nail It! magazine. It's the November/December issue. There are so many amazing ideas for nails. As I was perusing through it's pages, I came upon this. This was submitted by Nora Ramsdell, Richmond, VA @naq57.  I really liked the look of the gold and green/teal color. Very chic but simple too.  Here we go.  I started with a base coat. Your choice. As long as it works, you will be fine.  I like Green but not all Greens. I tend to gravitate towards the blue-green, green-blue, teal-y colors. I chose Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Re-teal Therapy. I love this brand. It drys quickly and on me, it lasts until I take it off. That's usually about 10 days. I used two coats. For the Gold, I decided to try something new. I usually use stamping polish. I have seen videos on YouTube...

Hell's bells!!!!

Oops.... I didn't realize it had been two weeks since my last post. Since I apparently live in the new Arctic Circle, all I've had time to do is stay warm. My daughter has missed five days of school due to the weather. That's unheard of where I'm from. When I was in High School, I can't remember ever having a show day.  Maybe that was before Global Warming.  Who coul d tell. And is Global warming really a thing? Or is it something the Government made up to scare the Hell out of normal people like myself?  On that note....away we go.   This is the look I came up with for New Year's Eve. Did I go out? Nope. Did I have a Gourmet dinner party for 20 at  my home? Again, nope. I never do  things like have dinner parties. I just thought it was New Year's Eve-ish looking. Yes I know that isn't correct Grammar. And no, I don't care. If people can say "A'ight or turnt." I can say  Eve-ish. Get with the program teachers. Start teaching c...

Happy New Year!

Greetings: I hope everyone had wonderful Holidays with their loved ones. Mine was quiet. my immediate family is 9 people. Seven kids mean significant others, grand kids and my dear Aunt. That means a grand total of 21. This year there was but four at my dinner table. Quiet. This weeks post is Blue. Maybe because I have been feeling that color for awhile. New year, new things. Yea!!!!  Away we go. I saw Ad somewhere for Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Flash-ionista and had to have it. It is gorgeous. It's a beautiful Mermaid blue-green with microglitter. Boom! In your face Ariel. It's the first bottle in the picture. I had to search for it and finally found it at my local Rite-Aid. Just my luck they had the other two colors right next to it on the display. Had to buy them. The picture doesn't do them justice. The first color  in the picture is Flash-ionista. This is the color I used on my index, pinkie and non-existent thumb. As usual, I used my Pro-Fx Nail Conce...

Tis the Season to be jolly........

Could also be the season to break the bank buying gifts... Or not.  Me? I always set a limit. With seven children, 6 significant others, four grandchildren....WOW!!! My one regret is not being a billionaire So this Christmas I'm not feeling my usual non-Grinchy self.  I have been feeling icky, down in the dumps blah. Is that even an actual diagnosis?? I wonder if there is an ICD-10 code for that? This weeks look is simple. A little bit of glitter. Boom. Done.  I do like it though, it goes with everything.  I used IBD Just Gel Base Coat. I cured this in an LED lamp for one minute. For the glitter I used Fairy Glo Color Coat. This is three coats. You will need to cure each coat for one minute. To finish, I used IBD Just Gel Top Coat. Guess what? Yep, you guessed it. Cure for one minute. After you have finished the curing process, you will need to wipe the sticky residue off your nails. You can do this two ways. You can buy Gel Cleanser from ju...

Ho....

Well, here I am again. I suppose you might be wondering about last weeks post. I said I could't connect to the wi-fi. I wasn't able to upload the nail art I did. In this day and age, I should be able to do that. One would think. Apparently, I am a derp. So this week's post is sort of Christmas-y. And it looks like this.    This is a look done with the mysterious Gel polish I bought from Amazon.  It came in a set of 10 colors....all in tiny pink bottles. Do you remember now...I knew you would. As this is gel polish, you will need either a UV or an LED lamp to cure the gel. My lamp came in a Sensationail kit I bought at Wal-Mart. The kit comes with a combo base/top coat, one polish color and some cleaner. If I recall it was $50.  I wasn't totally thrilled with the polish but the light is compact enough to take just about anywhere. Since I have had my light for two years, I had to purchase some new base/top oat. I have been using Super Nail Pro Gel bas...

Christmas spirit.......

What is that??  So, I'm unable to connect to the wifi at home, or anywhere for that matter. So I shall rant.  Who doesn't love Christmas? Most of the people I know do. Some more than others. My sweet daughter-in-law Elizabeth was listening to Christmas music when I was visiting.....in October. I have no problem with that. It makes her happy, go for it. I was raised in the Episcopal Church. I loved it. Advent and Christmas was my favorite time of year. I don't know if it was the prayers, the hymns or the amazing Father White.  It was very a special treat to go to midnight Mass and sing the harmony to all the hymns with my sister. Sometimes my brother would be there too. He had the best baritone voice. It was truly magical. The off we went to our home. My dad always had eggnog with Puerto Rican Rum in it. It was the best. We put stockings up and went to bed. Even when I was in College. We still do for my kids and grand kids.  Christmas morning we would awake...

Never fear.....

No one will ever know. So, today's post is about two things. I was raised in a fairly conservative family.  Air Force Dad, working Mom. I got my ears pierced when I was about 8 years old. I begged to get them pierces for what, at the time, seemed like an eternity. My Mom finally relented. It wasn't until I was 17 that I got a second piercing in my ear lobe.  In collage, I added a third piercing to one ear. In the words of Bob Dylan "The times, they are a changing." Nowadays, people pierce everything I've had my eyebrow, nose, tongue, lower lip and ears pierced. The remaining piercings besides my ears are a tiny stud in  my nose and under my lower lip. Ive had them pierced for so long, I don't even think about them anymore Long story short, I bought some piercing needles and jewelry. I had hemostats from Nursing School.  I sterilized the hemostats and jewelry. My daughter was home so we pierced my ear. I decided to pierce my septum. No big thing. With t...

Rain, rain go away.........

I knew if I washed my car on Friday, it would rain. Sorry all you weekend people thsat bike, hike, lion tame and what have you. Last weeks post I talked about as new brand of Gel Polish I had tried. You remember, the one where every color is in a pink bottle? Yep, I knew you would remember. I bought a set of 10 colors from Amazon. Previously, I bought five single colors. I decided to change things up a bit. Instead of one look, I would show you the colors of gel polish. For each of these colors, I used two coats and I cured them in a LED light for 60 seconds. Away we go. The first color is 006. It's a thermal color. When your hands are cold, it's a dark purple. When warm, its a pretty turquoise-y, teal-y blue. The bottom picture shows what it looks like blue. 013 is a mid tone cool taupe cream. 014 is a deep metallic burgundy. 015 is a metallic dark blue. 016 is a peach-y glitter. 017 is a deep red glitter. 018 is a pale pink glitter. 019 is an opaque mid tone ...
