Something for the rest of you.....

My last post was almost one month ago. I decided to use the OPI products foe one month to see how my nails faired. Well they faired well. Due to the use of gel polish(I believe), my nails peeled until last week. When you remove gel polish the wrong way, it peels the natural layers away. One would think, I would know not to do this. Guilty. I did it anyway. When I quit doing that, my natural nails grew out and they no longer peel. Yea!!  Are they short, yes. Are they healthy, YES!!! Patience is a virtue and not one of my better qualities. Now I need to work on my cuticles.😒 About six months ago, a small cat decided we were really cool and took up residence on our porch. She is the sweetest cat ever. March 19th, we walked out to the porch to discover the cat with a tiny orange tabby cat in her mouth. She had four teeny tiny baby kittens. I'm sure that is some sort of run-on sentence but WTF! Here they are in all their glory. About 24 hours old.   The grey one is...

Been a minute.....

Well, here I am again. I've been busy at work. Busy at home. When my Aunt passed away in November, It was hard. We emptied all her things out of the house she  lived in for 60 years. I think 90% of it is in my living room. I thing I have her graduation dress of hers from High School. That would have been 1942. She was very special to me. She was like a second mom. It's amazing all the antiques she had in her home.  She still had my curls from the time I got my hair cut. I miss her so much and I see her everyday in things I do. Anyhoo..... Just a quick post to let my hoard(LOL) of followers know I'm still around.  Today I'm actually doing my nails. I'll post my masterpieces after. Thanks for stopping by. Lee Hugs to my B.

Wishing you the very best Holiday season

Yes, I know it's been two months since my last post. My health issues have carried over for two months and I have been exhausted. I was finally feeling better and I lost someone very dear to me. When I was born. I was blessed with amazing parents, my Nana and my Aunt Wanda.  Wanda has always treated me like her own. I spent every minute of my childhood that I could at Wanda and Nana's house. It was home to me. My grandmother taught me how to iron, cook and sew among other things. I lost her when I was 11. Both parents passed away in 2003. Wanda was always there for me. She was like a second mom to me. She helped me with anything she could.  She babysat my six kids when I was a single parent going to school. She treated my kids like they were her own. She was an amazing woman. She worked at Grand Coulee Dam when it was being built, she traveled and she truly loved life. She was a Christian and she devoted her life to Jesus Christ. Back in July when I had surgery on my foo...

Candy Man, Candy Man........

Nope. Not going to risk it. Just in case.:) Well here we are. A beautiful September day. Some would say chilly but I think it's a perfect. You can even see the mountains. We had had some wildfires recently and it's been really smokey.  There have been days you can't see across the street. I think thoses days are past. I pray God watched over anyne that lived in those areas. It would be scary as Hell knowing that at any given moment, you could lose everything. On to something cherry. While I was rehabbing after three surgeries, I decided to try my hand at acrylics again. I wore them for years but seemed to develop an allergy to them. SOmeone suggested that it might be the primer that I was allergic to, not the acrylics. So I tried a protein primer and I haven't had any issues thus far. For this look I tried my hand at "extended nail bed." I thought the thumb looked great but I need to keep practicing. In case anyone in wondering: Disclaimer:  I am no...

Holy catfishes Batman.......

It's been a month since I've blogged. :( I'd love to say my life is so busy and exciting I forgot but I can not tell a lie. Health issues keep me tired all of the time. I'm feeling pretty good today so here I am. I think it's going to be a busy Summer at our house. I have three grand-babies on the way. One boy so far. I am waiting patiently on the other two.  I have five grandsons right now. I'm not going to lie, I was wishing for three girls but I will take whatever God has planned. I have a wedding in two weeks for my baby boy. He's not really a baby, he's 23 and 6'3" I believe. He is still my baby and I am happy for both of them. So I'm guessing the many of you have see water marble nail art.  I think it is beautiful. Every design is different.  The only draw back for me is the mess. I know there are many brands of "Nail Tape" out there but they are all latex based. I, sadly am allergic to latex. So it gets messy.  One day...

Something new and different........

Hello polish fans: If you haven't seen my posts where I have mentioned that every month I receive makeup brushes from LiveGlam. The box is called "MorpheMe." These are really awesome brushes from the Morphe' Brush Company. All of the brushes I have from this subscription are soft and well made. These boxes will run you about $20 dollars. Here is a picture of a few of the brushes that I have so far: In case you might be interested, here's the link to LiveGlam. https://liveglam.com/morphe-brushes/?ref=mamacinco61@yahoo.com Now LiveGlam has started offering a polish and lipstick subscription as well. PolishMe, which came in my P.O. Box yesterday; and KissMe lipstick. Sadly, the lipstick box is"wait list" status. So wait I shall. Back to the PolishMe box. It comes in a cute little box, which I have already found a use for. As a child of parents who lived through The Great Depression, I save everything. It looks like this. In this ...

If my head wasn't attached....

I'd would be in deep trouble. Blame it on RA. Not Ra the Egyptian God, nope. Blame it on my Rheumatoid Arthritis. Or as my father-in-law use to say "Arthur-itis." It sucks and on the weekend all it seems I think about is hiding under a blanket.  Still, here we are. My daughter came to visit yesterday. She is my "pedicurist." She spoils me by painting my "tailnails" as we have always referred to them. I thought the color was nice so I chose to paint my nails the same color. This is it: Base coat first. Any of the thousands of brands will work. Use what you have. If you can't see it i n the picture, there is ho pink sparkles in the blue. The blue is Dollish Polish Boo Boo Kitty F*ck. In life, it is a ble-grey color. This is two coats.  Link here: http://dollishpolish.bigcartel.com/product/cult-movie-classic-boo-boo-kitty-f-ck-full-polish The pink is Square Hue Placa Catalunya. Gorgeous frosty magenta. Two coats as well. If you have ...

What's the difference between Beer Nuts and Deer Nuts?

Beer Nuts are $1.25. And Deer Nuts....well, they are under a Buck.. Laugh it up fuzzball!  If you don't know where that line is from, I'm sorry for you. Think about it, maybe it will come to you. Sometime between this post and the last, I decided to take my gel nails off. I needed a change and I wanted to see how my real nails were growing. Well, I think the answer is bad and bad. They don't bad, they are just short. But they are bad because they have not completely grown out under the gel and frankly, they suck. There isn't really a boat load of surface to create stuff on. I think I'll put then on before the next post.  Sadly, this is the o nly picture I could get that was decent. My camera is apparently on holiday or something. I didn't use a base coat because I have three coats of builder gel on my nails. They are weak and thin.....still. I used Orly Terra Mauve (I hope). I say that because it's the darkest color of Orly in my polish database...

Greetings fellow nail polish fans...

My daughter has been out of school for nine days due to the weather. At this moment, it  is snowing like a son of a gun. She's so bored. I recently received the latest copy of Nail It! magazine. It's the November/December issue. There are so many amazing ideas for nails. As I was perusing through it's pages, I came upon this. This was submitted by Nora Ramsdell, Richmond, VA @naq57.  I really liked the look of the gold and green/teal color. Very chic but simple too.  Here we go.  I started with a base coat. Your choice. As long as it works, you will be fine.  I like Green but not all Greens. I tend to gravitate towards the blue-green, green-blue, teal-y colors. I chose Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Re-teal Therapy. I love this brand. It drys quickly and on me, it lasts until I take it off. That's usually about 10 days. I used two coats. For the Gold, I decided to try something new. I usually use stamping polish. I have seen videos on YouTube...

Hell's bells!!!!

Oops.... I didn't realize it had been two weeks since my last post. Since I apparently live in the new Arctic Circle, all I've had time to do is stay warm. My daughter has missed five days of school due to the weather. That's unheard of where I'm from. When I was in High School, I can't remember ever having a show day.  Maybe that was before Global Warming.  Who coul d tell. And is Global warming really a thing? Or is it something the Government made up to scare the Hell out of normal people like myself?  On that note....away we go.   This is the look I came up with for New Year's Eve. Did I go out? Nope. Did I have a Gourmet dinner party for 20 at  my home? Again, nope. I never do  things like have dinner parties. I just thought it was New Year's Eve-ish looking. Yes I know that isn't correct Grammar. And no, I don't care. If people can say "A'ight or turnt." I can say  Eve-ish. Get with the program teachers. Start teaching c...

Tis the Season to be jolly........

Could also be the season to break the bank buying gifts... Or not.  Me? I always set a limit. With seven children, 6 significant others, four grandchildren....WOW!!! My one regret is not being a billionaire So this Christmas I'm not feeling my usual non-Grinchy self.  I have been feeling icky, down in the dumps blah. Is that even an actual diagnosis?? I wonder if there is an ICD-10 code for that? This weeks look is simple. A little bit of glitter. Boom. Done.  I do like it though, it goes with everything.  I used IBD Just Gel Base Coat. I cured this in an LED lamp for one minute. For the glitter I used Fairy Glo Color Coat. This is three coats. You will need to cure each coat for one minute. To finish, I used IBD Just Gel Top Coat. Guess what? Yep, you guessed it. Cure for one minute. After you have finished the curing process, you will need to wipe the sticky residue off your nails. You can do this two ways. You can buy Gel Cleanser from ju...

Ho....

Well, here I am again. I suppose you might be wondering about last weeks post. I said I could't connect to the wi-fi. I wasn't able to upload the nail art I did. In this day and age, I should be able to do that. One would think. Apparently, I am a derp. So this week's post is sort of Christmas-y. And it looks like this.    This is a look done with the mysterious Gel polish I bought from Amazon.  It came in a set of 10 colors....all in tiny pink bottles. Do you remember now...I knew you would. As this is gel polish, you will need either a UV or an LED lamp to cure the gel. My lamp came in a Sensationail kit I bought at Wal-Mart. The kit comes with a combo base/top coat, one polish color and some cleaner. If I recall it was $50.  I wasn't totally thrilled with the polish but the light is compact enough to take just about anywhere. Since I have had my light for two years, I had to purchase some new base/top oat. I have been using Super Nail Pro Gel bas...

Christmas spirit.......

What is that??  So, I'm unable to connect to the wifi at home, or anywhere for that matter. So I shall rant.  Who doesn't love Christmas? Most of the people I know do. Some more than others. My sweet daughter-in-law Elizabeth was listening to Christmas music when I was visiting.....in October. I have no problem with that. It makes her happy, go for it. I was raised in the Episcopal Church. I loved it. Advent and Christmas was my favorite time of year. I don't know if it was the prayers, the hymns or the amazing Father White.  It was very a special treat to go to midnight Mass and sing the harmony to all the hymns with my sister. Sometimes my brother would be there too. He had the best baritone voice. It was truly magical. The off we went to our home. My dad always had eggnog with Puerto Rican Rum in it. It was the best. We put stockings up and went to bed. Even when I was in College. We still do for my kids and grand kids.  Christmas morning we would awake...

Rain, rain go away.........

I knew if I washed my car on Friday, it would rain. Sorry all you weekend people thsat bike, hike, lion tame and what have you. Last weeks post I talked about as new brand of Gel Polish I had tried. You remember, the one where every color is in a pink bottle? Yep, I knew you would remember. I bought a set of 10 colors from Amazon. Previously, I bought five single colors. I decided to change things up a bit. Instead of one look, I would show you the colors of gel polish. For each of these colors, I used two coats and I cured them in a LED light for 60 seconds. Away we go. The first color is 006. It's a thermal color. When your hands are cold, it's a dark purple. When warm, its a pretty turquoise-y, teal-y blue. The bottom picture shows what it looks like blue. 013 is a mid tone cool taupe cream. 014 is a deep metallic burgundy. 015 is a metallic dark blue. 016 is a peach-y glitter. 017 is a deep red glitter. 018 is a pale pink glitter. 019 is an opaque mid tone ...

Of all the things I've lost........

I would have to say it would be my courage. Yep, courage t tell my very first boyfriend to fuck off when I should have. My life would be so different.  Ladies, always stand up to those idiots that think you are a fool. Off the soap box I go. I missed last weeks post due to a the change in barometric pressure. I'm sure some of you are thinking "What the Hell?'  I have determined the my Arthritis pain is controlled by the barometer, not the temperature. You think I'm crazy I know. Ask anyone. Pain makes me bitchy, Bitchy isn't a good thing when you are trying to be positive. Here's the look I chose: Thank you Lupe for taking my pictures. As you can see, my joints aren't pretty. Maybe that's why I am so into nail art and stuff.  I used Super Nail Cover Pink Gel for this color. This is a milky pink, totally opaque and really pretty. The stones and pearls are from nail art wheels I bought at Amazon. I think this might even work for a wedding lo...

Strawberries and bananas and limes......

Oh my!! If I recall correctly, in my last post I talked about keeping the fimo fruit on my finger because I liked it so much. Or maybe I just thought it. either way, that lasted one whole week. I did manage to change to the neon colors I originally purchased. I discovered that if I used my Pro-Fx Nail Concealer, it would cover enough so the neon colors would "pop." Sadly black and white polish is the bane of my existence. I do not like working with them. I actually think white is worse. Anyway, here you go. Naked nails... Neon nails... For this look, I used Salon Perfect Copacabana Girl (orangy-coral) and Honey Dew, Honey Don't (green). With the Pro-Fx I only had to use two coats of the neon colors.  I like this look but I am a fickle woman when it comes to nail polish. Someone asked me how many times a week I did my nails.  The answer"At least twice." You  have to keep life exciting.  I thought I would get at least three looks...

Schools out for summer.........

Pardon me Mr, Cooper but school starts again in two days. If you are unable to connect those two references, you missed out. I have one child out of sever still in school. She is an amazing child. Smart, funny, talented and beautiful. Just don't piss her off. It's like poking a bear. This nail look was all my idea. I was trying to come up with something using my fimo fruit slices and here is it. Sort of. I had originally purchased three neon colors from Salon Perfect at my local Wal-Mart to use with this look. Pink, green and orange. Not happening. The colors looked pretty but I put three coats over a white  base cost and it was still streaky. I chose a red instead. Now it looks like this. This has to be one of THE most uncomfortable positions I put my hands in. Grrrr. So I chose Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Sonic Bloom. One coat. Boo. Done. Gotta Love it. This is a pink-red-coral color. bright yet easy to apply. One coat. I buy all my supplies at Rite-Aid, Wal-Mart...

Well...............

Here we are again. I didn't realize I hadn't posted last Sunday until I started my post today. You're right. I'm lame. I live in a State where there is still County Fair every year. When my kids were little, we went every year. Since my youngest is now 16, it's been awhile since I have gone. Traversing back and forth is a bit difficult with my RA so her Daddy has always taken her when I wasn't able to go. This year, my very best friend came into to town. Sheila, and another dear friend Denett went. It was so much fun and so awesome to get together with them. These ladies are like family and really special to me. I am blessed to have them. I am use to the fair being jam packed with people I knew but this year it wasn't crowded. Sadly the Ag, Arts & Craft, Gardening and Commercial buildings were a bit empty. We had a ball. Space Burgers are amazing. Corn on the cob is delicious. Lion's Ears really crispy and sweet. Sadly we didn't get t...

In a blink of an eye, they are all grown up.

It's so true. My baby just turned 16. Where did the time go? I have seven kids and I am so glad they all live so close. If you have never tried LED Gel Nail Polish, you should. It wears like Iron. Mine will last for two weeks without any chipping. There are a ton of brands out there to choose from. Major companies like OPI, CND, Orly and China Glaze all have some.  I chose an "Off brand." As Amazon is my favorite online store, I bought mine there. Iv'e tried SuperNail Pro Gel, EZ Nails TruGel and Sensationails. I have had good results with all of these brands. The color choices are endless. You can find the EZ Flow and SuperNail brands on Ebay for a good price. Sensationails you can find at WalMart or Rite-Aid. Here we go..... I bought my most recent gel polish from Amazon. This is one of those "off brands" but don't let that fool you. It lasts just as long asd the more expensive brands I've tried. When you use Gel polish, you need to use a...

Another sunny Saunday

And hotter then Hell. When it's already 75 degrees at 7:30 in the morning, you know it's going to be hot. Too freaking hot. So, I'm nice and cool indoors, doing my nails...and fighting off a migraine. I saw today's idea on Pinterest. Here's the link. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/394979829801950580/ These are so pretty. It looks like the white is 3-D but I didn't have supplies to do that.  So, per usual, I improvised.  Here we go... Base coat as always. I used French manicure guides to mark where I wanted the polish to end.  Wait for it....Yep, you are so right,! Amazon. I used Essie Loot the Booty for the blue. This polish has just a hit of super fine shimmer in it. For the white, I used Mundo de Unas nail stamping polish. You should find it here. http://www.mundodeunas.com/ For the teeny dots, I used a dotting (Amazon) and L.A. Girl Color Pop White On. I bought mine at Rite-Aid but my store doesn't have it any longer. Top coat - Sa...
